Fast ForWord has been designed using neuroscience principles. What does that mean?

Neuroscience, or brain research, has made incredible strides over the past 30 years.  Here are some facts that we now know:

1. The brain can increase its capacity to learn over a lifetime. ..which means you really CAN teach an old dog new tricks. It also means that weak language and reading skills definitely don’t have to stay weak throughout a child’s life.

2. Developing solid language skills at an early age is directly related to how your brain develops its ability to read.

3. How well a person can process sounds, or the smallest part of a word , such as ‘b’ in ‘bat’,  directly affects the ability to associate sounds with letters…and really KNOW them!

4. Certain conditions, such as positive reinforcement, encourage learning.

5. Neural circuits are continuously redefined through experiences and learning.

Is this one of those products you have to do forever?

No! Fast ForWord is designed to target what the brain needs in order to change. When using the recommended schedule you will see positive results in 6-12 weeks. Because the brain is strengthening these cognitive skills, the beneifts continue to last a lifetime.

Take some time and read over this information. Think about how your child may be struggling to keep up being expected to use skills that he/she doesn’t have. Think about an intensive summer program that could have your child returning to school with the necessary language and reading skills to be successful in the classroom. Are there side effects to this program? Yes. Your child’s self-esteem will go WAY up!

Your comments and questions are always welcome. The details for CTA’s Summer Spectacular will be outlined next Monday.  Enjoy the day!

WOW! Has it been THAT long??

My sincere apologies for letting so much time march by without keeping my blog up to date. Weekly updates are now going to be available to keep you all in the loop with what’s happening at CTA, new programs, frequently asked questions, and announcements for CTA’s ‘Summer Spectacular’..like sending your brain to summer camp!

FAQ: I read that you provide many ‘specialty’ programs that are designed to improve a child’s cognitive skills for better academic performance and reading, but, as a speech therapist, do you also provide therapy for kids who have sound errors in their everyday speech?  HS, Auburn MA.

Answer: I certainly do! ‘Traditional’ speech and language therapies are offered here and include teaching correct sound production, improved vocabulary and improved grammar (when young children have sound errors, they usually have grammar errors as well..not using correct pronouns, for example). Some children come once, twice or even three times per week, depending on the severity of their difficulty. An initial appointment is scheduled to determine what type of therapy and what therapy schedule would best benefit your child.

Thinking about summer yet? Reservations are being taken starting March 1st for CTA’s Summer Spectacular Fast ForWord Programs. What is Fast ForWord? It’s patented software developed by brain scientists to build an individual’s learning capacity through exercises designed to improve brain processing speed and accuracy. Fast ForWord begins with strengthening the foundational cognitive skills of MEMORY, ATTENTION, PROCESSING AND SEQUENCING then continues to move onto improving the foundational READING SKILLS of VOCABULARY, PHONEMIC AWARENESS, DECODING, FLUENCY AND COMPREHENSION. Stay tuned to this site for more details next week. The question you can ask yourself now is: Is my child having a hard time with reading? One question. One answer. And if the answer is ‘yes,’ then Fast ForWord is for you!

Keep in touch and enjoy the day!
